In the introductory section, there was a business forum entitled “Keeping Pace with Industry 4.0” and the most important event was the award ceremony for the best innovators in the region in 2018.
For this year’s tender, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of the North Primorska region received a total of 13 innovations from companies and institutions in the region. A jury of experts evaluated them and selected the winners of this year’s gold, silver and bronze awards for innovations in the region.
This year, the Kobarid company TIK d.o.o. submitted its application for the first time. For the project, on which we worked together with the Hidria TC Competence Industrial Automation Koper Centre, we received a silver award for innovation, i.e. for a new, unique line for wetting and drying urinary catheters with a UV coating. This wetting process is rather tricky and manufacturers refuse to disclose it; therefore, we had to develop our own solution. This year, TIK introduced a new, significantly improved catheter with a hydrophilic coating with its improved properties – good gliding, correspondingly long drying time of the coating after activation and good adhesion of the coating with minimal residues in the body after its application, which significantly improves the quality of life for all users of these catheters. With different versions of the new catheter (single, with water bag, with sleeve), the company becomes one of the best manufacturers of these catheters.
